Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel by Robin Cook. Third-year medical student Susan Wheeler begins her surgical training at Memorial Hospital where her late, famed physician grandfather helped found. She begins to observe that during seemingly routine procedures, patients are falling into irreversible comas and are then transferred to the Jefferson Institute, a private, high-tech, coma-care facility. When her superiors dismiss her finding as nothing extraordinary, she starts her own investigation, but as she digs deeper, those that have helped her access files are quickly fired. Sensing something sinister, she breaks into the Jefferson Institute and makes a shocking discovery that soon puts her own life in danger.
