Plot Synopsis

Based on book "Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike" by Charlotte Gray. This part fact, part fiction, adventure story tells the tale of seven strangers and their collective fight for survival and wealth in a small, frontier town in the Yukon territory. The journey begins in 1897 when two New York City childhood friends, Bill Haskell and Byron Epstein, make the arduous, back-breaking journey to the Klondike boom town of Dawson City to seek their fortune in gold. After some early trouble in town, they stake their claim out on the creeks and set about the business of mining gold. They're soon ravaged by harsh conditions, unpredictable weather and deceptive, dangerous individuals fueled by desperation -- including greedy businessmen, seductive courtesans and native tribes witnessing the destruction of their people and land by opportunistic entrepreneurs. When tragedy strikes his mining camp, Bill seeks revenge with the help of his new love, shrewd businesswomen Belinda Mulrooney, and Father Judge, who establishes a church in the middle of Dawson hoping to attract wayward men and women in need of salvation. To survive, he must fight not only his lust for gold but The Count, a dangerous man of questionable nobility who employees a posse of murderous outlaws to make sure his desires are met.
