In honor of National Cat Day, we compiled a list of the top ten cats -- big & small and tame & wild -- to grace your television screen. Did your favorite kitty pounce onto our list?

The Cat: Bruce Biteabit

The Show: HONEY WEST

About: Bruce Biteabit is the pet ocelot of the show's titular character, Honey West, who was one of the first female detectives on television. As far as we know, Bruce Biteabit was also the first pet ocelot on TV. (Probably the only one, at that.)

Video:

Special Skill: Solving mysteries.

Fun Fact: Keeping an ocelot as a pet isn’t just for fictional characters -- Salvador Dali had a pet ocelot named Babou.

The Cat: Lord Tubbington

The Show: GLEE

About: Lord Tubbington is Brittany's overweight domestic shorthair and frequent guest on Brittany's “Fondue for Two” show.

Video:

Special Skill: Social media, with more than 3,000 Twitter followers.

Fun Fact: Brittany often makes ridiculous claims about Lord Tubbington, like that he unsuccessfully tried to quit smoking and is on the Atkins diet.

The Cat: Sprinkles

The Show: THE OFFICE

About: Though Angela has many cats, Sprinkles the Persian is her clear favorite. After the feline’s unfortunate demise involving Dwight and a freezer, Angela goes into mourning.

Video:

Special Skill: Can make her human do anything for her.

Fun Fact: Sprinkles (RIP) was a diabetic.

The Cat: Zazzles

The Show: THE BIG BANG THEORY

About: When Sheldon has a fight with Amy, he comforts himself by adopting several cats, one of which he names Zazzles.

Video:

Special Skill: Cheering up Sheldon.

Fun Fact: Sheldon almost named him Hermann von Helmholtz, but decided the cat was too “zazzy” for that.

Bonus Cat Video: Penny sings "Soft Kitty" to comfort Sheldon when he's sick.

The Cat: Spot

The Show: STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION

About: Lieutenant Commander Data's pet cat, who is extremely unfriendly to almost everyone except Data, has been known to scratch other crewmembers, damage property, and aggravate allergies.

Video:

Special Skill: Shape-shifting. Since Spot was switched from a Somali cat to a tabby cat partway through the show, the creators have joked that she is a shape-shifter.

Fun Fact: In the episode “Genesis” Spot is temporarily transformed into an iguana.

The Cat: Salem Saberhagen

The Show: SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH

About: Salem was once a warlock, but after committing a terrible crime was punished by being turned into an American Shorthair for 100 years. Now he is the Sabrina’s pet, which he seems to enjoy more than he admits.

Video:

Special Skill: Can talk -- and does so at great lengths. Is sassiness a skill?

Fun Fact: Series creators were concerned about harming actual cats during films. Even though they had four cats to play Salem, in many scenes they used puppeteers or specially-made animatronics cats.

The Cat: Mountain Lion

The Show: 24

About: In season two of 24, Kim Bauer, played by Elisha Cuthbert, is almost attacked by a group of mountain lions while trying to escape a nuclear bomb.

Video (FunnyOrDie.com Musical Spoof):

Special Skill: Being very scary -- with the ability to devour straying characters.

Fun Fact: The ridiculousness of this scene gave name to a common TV trope: Whenever a character or group of characters breaks off from the main plot and begins on a story completely unconnected to the main one, they can be referred to as being “trapped by mountain lions.”

Bonus Cat Video: On HAPPY ENDINGS, Penny jokes with Elisha Cuthbert's character about the mountain lion scene in 24.

The Cat: Clarence

The Show: DAKTARI

About: Clarence is the pet lion of Dr. Tracy, a veterinarian in Africa who protects animals from poachers. This feline is best known as “Clarence the Cross-eyed Lion” as the show was based on the movie with that title.

Video:

Special Skill: Cross-species friendships. Not only does Clarence hang with humans, but he's also friends with a chimp.

Fun Fact: The lion that played Clarence needed a stunt double for any scenes involving trucks -- because he was afraid of vehicles.

The Cat: Salty

The Show: CAROLINE IN THE CITY

About: Caroline's pet Beige Himalayan cat who is often found sleeping all over her apartment.

Video:

Special Skill: Scaring Caroline's ex, Richard.

Fun Fact: Salty is played by the same cat from HOMEWARD BOUND.

The Cat: Toonces

The Show: SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

About: Toonces, the driving cat, was a reccurring sketch on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, where the feline would convince someone to let him drive a car -- right off a cliff.

Video:

Special Skill: Driving cars. Even if he crashes every time, driving a car at all is still pretty impressive for a cat.

Fun Fact: He's only four-years-old. Since that's 28 in cat years, he can still order alcohol at a bar -- but never drives while intoxicated.

Honorable Mention: The Unseen and the Unnamed

The Cat: Smelly Cat

The Show: FRIENDS

About: Smelly cat isn't an onscreen cat; he's just the subject of a song Phoebe wrote. While the cat remains unseen to viewers, the song comes up several times in the series.

Video:

Special Skill: Inspiring not-so-great music.

Fun Fact: Though “Smelly Cat” does gain commercial success it only does so without Phoebe’s vocals.

Bonus Cat Video: The "Smelly Cat" music video.

The Cat: No Name

The Show: EARLY EDITION

About: Every morning this mysterious cat brings Gary Hobson the next day's paper. Little is known about him, other than that he is an orange tabby and Gary isn’t the first person to receive the papers.

Video:

Special Skill: Magical newspaper-related powers and possible immortality

Fun Fact: The cat often points out important articles to help Gary on his way.
