Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Rocsi Diaz, ALTER EGO is an avatar singing competition series, where lost dreams and second chances are reignited when singers from all walks of life become the stars they've always wanted to be. However, these contestants won't perform as themselves. Rather, they're given the chance to show how they've always wanted to be seen, creating their dream avatar ALTER EGO to reinvent themselves, while showcasing their unique performance style via motion capture technology. The judges table features Alanis Morissette, Nick Lachey, Grimes, and will.i.am.

ALTER EGO had a two-night series premiere on Wednesday, September 22 & Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on FOX. In the two-night series premiere, 20 contestants from all walks of life go head-to-head.

Leading up to the series debut, on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT, FOX premiered "The Masked Singer & Alter Ego Sneak Peek," a one-hour special that goes behind the scenes of ALTER EGO and that takes an exclusive look at the new season of THE MASKED SINGER, including the final costume reveal. FOX aired an encore presentation of this special on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 9pm.

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT, FOX premiered the season finale of ALTER EGO. The final four contestants -- Israa Darwich (aka Night Journey), Jake (aka Dipper Scott), Kyara Tetreault (aka Seven), and Samaera Hirsch (aka Misty rose) -- compete, but only one will be named champion.
