Plot Synopsis

ARRANGED is a one-hour reality series that follows three couples from different cultural backgrounds who have one thing in common -- the belief in arranged marriages. From a young Romani gypsy couple in New York City, to a southern couple from the Bible belt, to a couple raised by traditional Eastern Indian parents living in Los Angeles, these brides and grooms don't just marry each other, their unions include their entire family. This series chronicles each couple's relationship from the lead-up to their weddings, to the several months after the reality of married life sinks in. For some, it's tough to give up their independence and their new roles as husband and wife prove to be more than they bargained for. Pregnancy scares, money concerns and overprotective parents add even more stress to an already overwhelming situation. The three couples in Season 1 are: Ragini, 34, and Veeral, 33, who eventually met through Shaadi.com, an Indian marriage site where both their parents created online profiles for them; Meghan, 24, and Josh, 28, whose marriage, a long time in the making, was facilitated by Meghan's mom, her mom's best friend and Josh's dad; and Maria, 17, and Christian, 18, who live by their Gypsy culture and traditions and whose marriage was arranged by Christian's parents, Nina and Michael. ARRANGED returned with new episodes on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on FYI. In the fall premiere, "Did I Marry A Monster?," Meghan and Josh's big move to Indianapolis turns into a road-trip from hell when they have a run-in with the law with the in-laws in tow. Christian's refusal to allow Maria to have her own money leads to a shocking showdown. Tired of baby pressure from her in-laws, Ragini is a no-show at an important event, which offends Veeral and his entire family. Season 2 of ARRANGED premiered on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on FYI. The 11-episode second season follows three new couples -- each from different backgrounds -- who have one thing in common: the belief in arranged marriages. From a young Jewish modern Orthodox couple in New York City, to a southern couple from Texas, to a couple raised by traditional East Indian parents living in California -- each have a unique journey to marriage. The couples in Season 2 are: Ben & Vicki, who grew up in Seattle, went to the same middle school and later reconnected in college at a charity event in New York City; David & Taylor, who had played football and cheered at the same high school and were later connected by David's brother, leading to an online, long-distance relationship that blossomed between the two while Taylor was working in Hawaii based on their shared faith and Texas upbringing; and Maneka & Mayur, who sought approval from Maneka's parents after only a month of knowing each other, which pleased her parents because they approved of him and because their daughter's second marriage would be an arranged one.
