Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments and interviews with former students, loved ones, and law enforcement, BAD TEACHERS exposes educators whose extra-curricular activities crossed the line even though they were beloved by students, looked up to by faculty peers, and trusted by parents. Each 60-minute episode of this series features a different teacher who abused their power, including: married high school English teacher Sharon Rutherford, an exemplary educator in Coffeeville, AL, who, after gaining confidence from gastric bypass surgery, seduced a 17-year-old student and engaged in a dangerous and illicit sexual affair; married high-school band director Robert Hamberg, who had a sexual relationship with his 16-year-old drum major, leaving his wife and two children and marrying the student; and unhappily married Erin McLean, an attractive young English teacher at West High School in Knoxville, TN, who fell for one of her handsome 17-year-old students, leading the naive student on a dangerous journey with tragic consequences.
