Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments, first-person interviews, and vintage video and photos, BEAUTY QUEEN MURDERS reveals women who have fulfilled their fantasies by becoming beauty queens, only to have it all taken away when they find themselves at the center of murder investigations. Each 60-minute episode chronicles the case of one pageant winner, including: Jackie Johns, the 20-year-old Sucker Day Festival Queen in Nixa, MO, who never made it home after a Monday-night shift at the Sale Barn Cafe; Tana Woolley, Miss Rosamond (CA) in 1978, who was found raped and murdered just three weeks after moving into her own apartment; Elizabeth Kenyon, a 23-year-old Miami model, who won multiple beauty pageants but never returned from a photo shoot; Nona Dirksmeyer, a 19-year-old winner of the Miss Petit Jean Valley beauty pageant, whose goal of winning Miss Arkansas was cut short by murder; Peggy Sue Thomas, a mother of two, who entered the Mrs. Continental USA Pageant and may be involved in the murder of her best friend's husband -- or may be the killer's next victim; and Sheila Jo Harris, an 18-year-old, who moved to compete in a bigger pageant, but was found brutally murdered days after moving into her new apartment.
BEAUTY QUEEN MURDERS returned for its second season on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Field of Screams," the Riverhead High community faces the fact there's a killer in their midst when the school's Homecoming Queen, Curtisha Morning, is found brutally murdered on a field behind the school.
