Plot Synopsis

GOLDEN BOY LIVE! is a series of boxing matches broadcast by Fox Sports 1 on Monday nights as part of the cable channel's relationship with boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya and his company, Golden Boy Promotions. On August 19, 2013 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, FS1 showed the first of 24 Monday-night, live events, which featured a tripleheader from Best Buy Theater in Manhattan, including these bouts: the headline event, in which Danny Jacobs (Brooklyn) faced Giovanni Lorenzo (Manhattan) in a 10-round bout for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Middleweight Championship; the co-main event, featuring Eddie Gomez (Bronx), who risked his perfect pro record against Steve Upsher Chambers (Philadelphia) in an eight-round welterweight bout; and the first televised fight of the night, in which Marcus Browne (Staten Island) put his 5-0 pro record on the line against Robert Hill in a four-round contest. For the first telecast on Fox Sports 1, Dave Bontempo handled the blow-by-blow call with Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins and Paulie 'Magic Man' Malignaggi providing color commentary. GOLDEN BOY LIVE! first appeared as a series of specials that aired live on various networks, such as Canada's Fight Network, Fox Deportes, Televisa, Fox Sports Network, and more. These telecasts featured the following headline bouts: DeMarcus Corley vs. Frankie Gomez (July 20, 2013); Pablo Cesar Cano vs. Shane Mosley (May 18, 2013); Antonio Orozco vs. Jose Reynoso (May 3, 2013); Pipino Cuevas Jr. vs. Juan Diaz (April 13, 2013); Henry Aurad vs. Omar Figueroa (March 2, 2013); Frankie Gomez vs. Lanard Lane (February 2, 2013); Johan Perez vs. Steve Forbes (January 12, 2013); and Luis Ramos vs. Ricardo Williams (December 8, 2012).
