Plot Synopsis

Using expert analysis from criminologists, law enforcement officials and journalists along with re-creations and first-person accounts from people impacted by the crimes, INSIDE THE MIND OF A SERIAL KILLER is a one-hour documentary series that profiles behaviors of serial killers. Serial killers blend in. They appear normal. But lurking deep within their psyche are the triggers that kick-start their psychopathic behavior. Abusive childhood experiences, trauma as an adult, detectable mental frailty, narcissism and an absence of empathy combine to build up a body of evidence which rings alarm bells for psychologists. By forensically researching the lives of those killers who can't stop killing, this series reveals why they do what they do -- and how they could have been spotted before committing their awful crimes. INSIDE THE MIND OF A SERIAL KILLER had its U.S. linear television premiere on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 8-10pm ET/5-8pm PT, as ReelzChannel debuted back-to-back episodes:

"Cleveland Strangler" (January 23 at 8pm ET/5pm PT): It was a house of horrors like no other. All around Anthony Sowell were the putrefying reminders of his actions and the 11 women he raped and strangled were either left to rot in his home or buried in his back yard. What drove this former marine to become a merciless serial killer? And why did it take years for police to uncover the truth about him?

"The Brownout Strangler" (January 23 at 9pm ET/5pm PT): Private Eddie Leonski cut a perplexing figure as he was often drunk and bizarrely adopting a woman's voice. Then three women were found dead and detectives were sure there would be more victims unless they could they get figure out the Leonski's pattern of disturbing behavior.

Additional episodes investigate Stephen Griffiths (aka The Crossbow Cannibal), Angus Robertson Sinclair, and more.
