Plot Synopsis

BARGAIN MANSIONS is a reality series that follows Tamara Day as she and her team renovate homes in downtown Kansas City, injecting new life into the area she calls the heart of the home.

On Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 9-10pm ET/PT, DIY Network premiered back-to-back half-hour pilot episodes. In the two-part pilot, then titled LITTLE MONEY MANSIONS, Tamara tackles the battered kitchen of her new property, an 1897 bungalow. She enlarges and modernizes the space while preserving traditional elements of a bungalow kitchen. Tamara and her dad hunt for a suitably sized island. After deciding on a style, she helps construct the cabinets.

Seventeen months later -- on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 -- DIY debuted the official series premiere, showing back-to-back half-hour episodes from 10-11pm ET/PT. In the season opener (10pm), "Double Dutch Dilemma," Tamara gets the opportunity to renovate a French chateau she's wanted to tackle for years. She finds that a recent renovation left the kitchen looking outdated and tacky, but she's determined to create a home full of authentic details. Tamara and her dad go shopping for a Dutch door, then she restores plantation shutters to preserve the home's vintage French elements. Then, in the night's second new episode (10:30pm), "The Trouble with Cobbles," Tamara continues work on a French chateau as she overhauls a large master suite covered in the tackiest wallpaper she's ever ripped out of a home. She plans to move an entire bathroom to create an additional bedroom and extend a hallway with floor boards saved from downstairs. But to preserve a backyard kitchenette and cobblestone pavers, she will be forced to make decisions that may wreck her budget.

The 14-episode second season of BARGAIN MANSIONS premiered on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as DIY Network debuted back-to-back half-hour episodes. Throughout the rest of the season, Tamara preserves the historic charm and unique architectural features of each dwelling, such as antique light fixtures, clawfoot tubs and vintage doors with original hardware. She later incorporates modern layouts and luxurious amenities to attract top dollar from the right buyer.

For its third season, BARGAIN MANSIONS moved to HGTV with one-hour episodes, beginning Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Tidal Wave of Tile," Tamara revives a neoclassical Colonial by updating the kitchen, parlor and breakfast nook while preserving its historic charm. Then, she converts the 1,200-square-foot, unfinished attic into an incredible master suite. After a five-month break, BARGAIN MANSIONS returned with new Season 3 episodes on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. In the fall premiere, "Soffit Saga," Tamara takes on a 1979 property with a confusing style. She opens up sight lines by removing soffits in the living room and kitchen, and she pulls out the midcentury modern design with elements like shiplap and brass.

Season 4 of BARGAIN MANSIONS premiered on DIY Network on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Bold In, Old Out" Tamara modernizes an outdated, 1970s Tudor home by giving the kitchen a much-needed upgrade and renovating two uninspired living spaces on the first floor into statement rooms.

BARGAIN MANSIONS returned for its fifth season on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on Magnolia. In the season opener, "Family Renovation Recipe," Tamara and her dad help a recent widow, who loves to cook for her family, design her dream kitchen; Tamara takes a small galley space and turns it into a chef's giant dream kitchen, perfect for entertaining large family gatherings.

On Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 8pm ET/PT, Magnolia premiered the sixth season of BARGAIN MANSIONS. In the season opener, "Next Generation Renovation," a family has taken over their grandfather's palatial estate and is excited to live in the house for another generation, but first Tamara and her team need to update it.
