Plot Synopsis

Hosted and executive produced by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, MAKING IT is a six-episode competition series that brings together eight of the country's most talented Makers to tackle a variety of handmade projects with the hopes of impressing Poehler and Offerman as well as judges Simon Doonan, Creative Ambassador for Barneys New York, and Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy trend expert. As the show's Master Helper, Jimmy DiResta serves as an additional resource for the makers throughout their challenges by assisting with needs in the woodshop. Each episode of the competition will consist of two projects, cleverly designed by Poehler and Offerman, that test the Makers' ability to think outside of the box in unpredictable ways. Believing there is no better way to express yourself than by making things by hand, the challenges are also designed to bring out skilled insights and takeaway, touching personal stories and lots of laughs. First, the "faster-craft" round will be a timed challenge that will test their ability to not only work quickly but imaginatively as well. Next, the Makers will move to the "master craft collection," a one-of-a-kind themed challenge in which the competitors will need to use their expertise and get inventive in order to assemble a winning craft that fits the theme of that week. In the end, only one will emerge victorious and be named "Master Maker." The eight contestants in Season 1 are: Joanna Gick (Age 37, Chandler, AZ; Co-owner of J&J Design Group); Amber Kemp-Gerstel (Age 37, Miami, FL; formerly a clinical psychologist and now a full-time blogger); Billy Kheel (Age 43, Los Angeles, CA; full-time artist and visiting art teacher); Robert Mahar (Age 46, Los Angeles, CA; artist and designer who teaches DIY projects); Khiem Nguyen (Age 28, Austin, TX; founder of A & K Woodworking & Design); Jemma Olson (Age 60, Rockwall, TX; self-proclaimed heartfelt crafter, mother of eight and grandmother of 16); Jeffery Rudell (Age 54, New York, NY; creates paper props for clients such as Tiffany & Co., Unilever, New York Botanical Gardens and more); and Nicole Sweeney (Age 31, San Francisco, CA; artist).

The sophomore season of MAKING IT premiered on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on NBC, with executive producers and hosts Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman returning, along with judges Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy's trend expert, and Simon Doonan, Creative Ambassador for Barneys New York. On Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 9-11pm ET/PT, NBC premiered the two-hour season finale of MAKING IT:

"A Shed Hack Staycation" (9pm): Makers must transform an ordinary tool shed into a dream destination, a space representing their ideal vacation get-away. It's a good old-fashioned Shed Hack, Staycation style. Final four competitors include: Lilly Jimenez, Jessie Bearden, Justine Silva, and Rebecca Propes.

"You Made It!" (10pm): In the last Faster Craft of the season, the final three Makers must create a three-dimensional party invitation that celebrates a unique occasion for a loved one. Then for the Master Craft they'll have to design that exact party. The person who wins is crowned Master Maker by Nick and Amy.
