Plot Synopsis

Each one-hour episode of MURDER BY NUMBERS begins with the discovery of a body and the onset of an intense investigation. After following the clues, investigators quickly focus on a very likely suspect. But just as the viewer expects to relax and ease into the standard procedure of a true-crime investigation through the eyes of detectives, the program plunges into yet another chilling and suspenseful scene where a second body is discovered. This shocking revelation not only eliminates the original suspect, it sends the investigation on a harrowing journey into the depths of pure criminal evil. Each 60-minute episode re-creates a different criminal investigation, including the series opener, "Count the Bodies," which focuses on a pair of murders linked by a mysterious note, puzzling police as they scramble to stop a budding serial killer. What they don't realize is the murderer has a target in mind and nothing, not even a growing body count, will stand in his way. On Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered the second season of MURDER BY NUMBERS. In the season opener, "Monster Among Us," a monster hunts the streets of Baton Rouge, leaving three women raped, murdered and sadistically posed and everyone in town on edge. But when one brave woman survives a vicious attack, evidence leads police to the hunter and eventually justice.

On Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered the Season 2 finale of MURDER BY NUMBERS. In the season ender, "Rampage," a series of murders in California bear eerie similarities, but police have trouble connecting them -- that is until unique ballistics, mysterious surveillance, and a bloody cell phone lead them to three criminals on a deadly revenge spree.
