Plot Synopsis
Based on Sally Andrews' 2015 book of the same name, RECIPES FOR LOVE AND MURDER is a South African mystery series that centers on middle-aged advice columnist Maria Purvis (aka Tannia Maria), who moved to Scotland as a child along with her parents and returned 10 years ago to South Africa after her husband died. She now dishes out help and recipes via the local gazette in the fictional South African town of Eden. Mostly keeping to herself, and focusing on food, gardening, and showing kindness to others, Maria is often thought of as an old lady before her time. But when Martine, a woman who writes to Maria about her abusive husband, is found dead, Maria joins forces with Jessie September, a local rookie journalist, to solve the small-town murder and catch the killer -- before the local police find more victims. RECIPES FOR LOVE AND MURDER made its U.S. debut on Monday, September 5, 2022, as Acorn TV released the first two episodes. Two episodes drop each Monday through October 3.

On Monday, October 3, 2022, Acorn TV released the final two episodes of RECIPES FOR LOVE AND MURDER:
"Scrambled Eggs ": As Maria retraces Jessie's steps, the police try to track down Jessie's cousin. Following up on a hunch, Maria makes a discovery at Martine's house but not before the killer discovers her. With her life at stake, Maria agrees to an unusual culinary request. The police also figure out who the killer is, but will they be too late?
"I Only Wanted Advice, Tannie": Maria makes a desperate escape with the killer in pursuit, as the police close in. A frantic search ensues for Jessie, but the amount of ground to cover over the Karoo's vast terrain is daunting. An emotional Maria and Khaya finally allow themselves some time to connect, bolstering Maria to face her past when it arrives on her doorstep.
