Plot Synopsis

Unlike most crime docudramas, REDRUM uses first-person interviews and re-creations to tell its murder stories in reverse, starting at the crime scene and going backwards in time to reveal the killer. Murder investigations never start at the beginning, and its up to the investigators to piece together the story, tracing the series of intersecting, and often complex events and relationships that unfolded to arrive at the root of the crime. Once the case is opened, this series follows the backward tale of murder -- from the false motives and mistaken witnesses to conversations taken completely out of context, until the truth finally comes out at the very end. Each 30-minute episode highlights a single case, including: a silent 911 call in Alabama, which leads to the discovery of a triple homicide in the Stocks' family kitchen; a police officer in Alabama, who finds his brother, Jerry Haney, murdered on New Year's Day; a couple, who is murdered leaving their adopted son alone in his crib -- but the nanny may have something to gain from murder; a divorced factory worker, who is found in his home stabbed to death after a violent struggle; Tim Wicks, whose dismembered body is discovered scattered around Michigan; Pam Carter, who is found dead in her apartment in Reno; and many more killer crimes. REDRUM returned for its second season on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, as Investigation Discovery aired back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener, investigators untied a tangled knot of family conflicts to solve the puzzling case of Rick and Suzanna Wamsley found shot and stabbed to death in their own home at Christmas. The investigation in the night's second episode revealed a man with a deep secret, who was found dead in the bedroom -- the victim of an apparent suicide. On Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 9-10pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered the third season of REDRUM, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener, "The In Crowd," when outcast Christine Paolilla moves to town, popular high school students Rachael Koloroutis and Tiffany Rowell befriend her, but the two new friends are soon found murdered along with their boyfriends, shocking their small town. Then, at 9:30pm in the night's second episode, "At the End of His Rope," when census worker Bill Sparkman is found dead in the woods with the word FED scrawled on his chest, there are many suspects. Did someone take his or her hatred of the government out on Bill Sparkman? Or could the culprit lie closer to home?
