Plot Synopsis

SCENE OF THE CRIME WITH TONY HARRIS follows Tony Harris as he travels into the heartland to hear personal accounts from victims, loved ones, and even the culprits themselves, who share heart-wrenching -- sometimes deeply buried -- reactions to the moment their lives turned upside down. For each case, Harris peels back the layers of the story, revealing what motivates some of the nation's most horrific acts of violence. SCENE OF THE CRIME premiered on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 11pm ET/PT, moving to its regular timeslot -- Sundays at 10pm -- the following week. In the series opener, "Small Town Killer," Harris revisits the story of 11-year-old Jodi Parrack who was found murdered in a cemetery in the tight-knit community of Constantine, Michigan. When police narrow in on Ray McCann, the officer who suggested they search the cemetery, it isn't until another young girl is attacked that police realize that they may have the wrong man. The episode unfolds through a series of personal stories as Harris interviews McCann himself, Parrack's mother, and neighbors who never imagined a crime like this could occur in their community. In subsequent episodes, Harris revisits these stories: a death-obsessed "hearse club" member, Loyd Dejohn, as the prime suspect of his wife's murder; the wrongful conviction of two men accused of abusing their young cousins and who are now trying to rebuild their lives after 20 years; a doctor's mysterious death is complicated when it's revealed that he had a number of enemies who wanted to end his anti-vaccine crusade against the medical establishment; and a jury left to determine whether Cherelle Baldwin murdered her boyfriend or rightfully protected herself and their child. Season 2 of SCENE OF THE CRIME WITH TONY HARRIS premiered on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season premiere, "Down by the River," Harris unravels the shocking case of three prostitutes slain by a serial killer in Spokane, Washington. After 22 years and 15 more bodies are uncovered, DNA evidence finally surrenders a suspect -- the last person investigators ever imagined. Harris scours police files, actual evidence and raw interrogation footage. As Harris interviews those closest to the case such as veteran detective, Jim Hansen; local Spokesman-Review journalist, Thomas Clouse; and family members compelled to speak for the first time, his need for answers and quest for justice propel the story forward.
On Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered "Deadly Deceit," the Season 2 finale of SCENE OF THE CRIME WITH TONY HARRIS. Newly engaged nurse and young Army veteran Angela Moss is shot dead at the end of her shift. Tony uncovers a second murder, and the shady underworlds of a drug dealer and a motorcycle club. But it would take a humble insurance agent to bring Moss' killer to justice.
