Plot Synopsis

Using state-of-the-art archaeological technologies and CGI animation, SECRETS IN THE ICE is a one-hour documentary series that features experts and scientists who are exposing dark secrets, forgotten treasures and lost relics from some of the coldest places on Earth. This series spotlights the mysteries that have been locked away in icy tombs all over the world for centuries -- from frozen remains of wooly mammoths and human remains on the peaks of Mount Everest, to buried underground military stations and enormous craters hidden beneath glaciers. At the base of a massive glacier in Southern Greenland, Danish archeologists have discovered the remains of an ancient stone hut. Was this site the home to a Viking seer practicing black magic? In Siberia, archeologists have excavated a mummy with fantastical tattoos against the many warnings of locals. Have they uncovered buried treasure, or unleashed an ancient curse? SECRETS IN THE ICE had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on Science Channel.

The sophomore season of SECRETS IN THE ICE premiered on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery. From a fabled and forgotten snow machine inexplicably left behind in Antarctica after a two year voyage, to the discovery of hundreds of mummified penguins strewn about a desolate stretch of land, Season 2 reveals the mysteries in the most daunting, frozen places on Earth. Atop Mexico's highest peak, climbers stumble upon the mummified remains of a man ill equipped for mountaineering. Dressed in only a business suit, he appears to have just come from an important meeting. Was he the victim of a plane crash, or were there more sinister forces at work? Off the coast of British Colombia, Canada, divers discover a strange object on the ocean floor nearby an area where a U.S B-35 bomber supposedly jettisoned a nuclear bomb in 1950. Could divers have found the long-lost bomb that was allegedly dumped when the plane was going down?
