Plot Synopsis

Based on the STEP UP film franchise, this music-filled drama series focuses on several ambitious young dancers at High Water, a contemporary performing arts school in Atlanta. When twins Tal and Janelle relocate from Ohio, they find themselves thrust into a world where every move is a test. As they attempt to navigate their new world -- on and off the dance floor -- they'll discover just how deep they're willing to dig to realize their dreams and seize their moment. Ne-Yo stars as Sage Odom, who leads the High Water Performing Arts School, and Naya Rivera stars as Collette Jones, a former dancer turned administrator, who shares a history with Sage. STEP UP: HIGH WATER is created and executive produced by showrunner Holly Sorenson. Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and Meredith Milton, all producers of the original STEP UP films, also executive produce, along with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum, who both co-starred in the original STEP UP film. All 10 episodes of STEP UP: HIGH WATER debuted on YouTube Red on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. In select theaters across America one day before the official series premiere, moviegoers were treated to a "Step Up: High Water Premiere Event" on Tuesday, January 30 at 7pm local time. This one-night theatrical event featured the original movie STEP UP, the first episode of STEP UP: HIGH WATER, and behind-the-scenes footage from the new series.

The sophomore season of STEP UP: HIGH WATER premiered on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on YouTube Premium. This season the students are prepping for the performance of a lifetime, as they get ready to take the stage on 'Sage's' comeback tour. Drama surrounds the High Water students and teachers in the weeks before opening night. The second season will feature bigger dance battles mixed with new relationships and spotlights on family struggles. The sophomore season features guest appearances by choreographers Travis Wall and JaQuel Knight, as well as Jermaine Dupri, Rick Ross, Todrick Hall, and more.

Season 3 of this series, now known simply as STEP UP, premiered on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT on Starz. High Water remains a next level incubator for new artistic talent, where danger, corruption, suspicions, desires, resentments, and ambitions collide in and out of the halls of the headquarters. As the label's talent roster grows, High Water founder and megastar Sage Odom faces murder charges, financial ruin and powerful political enemies. His partner in business and in love, Collette Jones (Christina Milian taking over Naya Rivera) struggles to maintain their image as she balances a nationwide tour and stepping out of her role as the woman behind the empire all while carrying a secret that threatens to ruin it all. Caught in the maelstrom is a collective of talented young artists that have been mentored to become top selling rappers and dance superstars: Rigo, Poppy, Tal (Keiynan Lonsdale taking over for Petrice Jones), Davis, Odalie, and mysterious newcomer Angel (Rebbi Rosie), who all find that living your dream has a price.
