Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Executive Producer Andy Cohen, this one-hour series explores the nostalgic moments of three significant years in history. In each one-hour episode, Cohen -- a former producer at CBS News (1990-2000) -- alongside his newsmaker, writer and celebrity guests, focuses on the most influential trends and events that shaped that year, revealing how the past has impacted the cultural nuances of today in unexpected ways. From musical sensations to political movements, court room scandals to Y2K, and the power reality TV has had on fashion, food and more, Cohen gets never-before-heard insider stories from his guests who have had a front row seat to era-defining pop culture cornerstones. Season 1, which aired with the title THEN AND NOW WITH ANDY COHEN, focused on three years: 1989, 1994 and 2000. Celebrity guests include Kelly Ripa, Connie Chung, Dr. Drew, Mariel Hemingway, Billy Eichner, Bethenny Frankel, Margaret Cho, former White House Social Secretary Jeremy Bernard, Major Jeff Mueller, Director Justin Simien, LGBT journalist Zoey Tur, and more. The first episode focuses on 1994, which is highlighted by OJ Simpson and the most publicized criminal trial of the century, the launch of Amazon.com and the cultural obsession with the NBC sitcom FRIENDS. Plus, Cohen delves into the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" LGBT rights movement and how Kurt Cobain's death affected a generation, among other key events throughout this year. Part 2 focuses on 1989, which started a revolution -- from the birth of Botox to the racial tensions depicted in DO THE RIGHT THING -- that lives on. Cohen and his celebrity guests discuss the exercise craze of the year, step aerobics, that paved the way for the thigh master, shake weight, spinning, and boot camps of today, the impact of AIDS on the art community, and how HOUSE OF STYLE brought high fashion to mainstream. The final part of Season 1 explores the .com bubble burst, Y2K, and how Jennifer Lopez is the reason for Google's "Image Search." Competition was trending in 2000 with the emergence of culture phenomena BIG BROTHER and SURVIVOR, and Cohen and his guests discuss the significance of picking Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda as a fan favorite. On Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, Bravo premiered the second season of this series with a new title: ANDY COHEN'S THEN & NOW. In the season opener, "1997: The Year Fame Turned Dangerous," Cohen and guests take a look at 1997, when critically acclaimed blockbuster hit Titanic made its debut, Lion King premiered on Broadway, the world faced the tragic loss of Princess Diana, and Mike Tyson's shocking bite in the ring. Talking with insiders Kristin Chenoweth, RuPaul, and Rosie Perez, they'll discuss how 1997's obsession with Spice Girls relates to today's women's empowerment movement and more! Additional prominent figures featured in Season 2 include Willie Geist, pop-culture sensation Amber Rose, Susan Lucci, cultural trailblazer Isaac Mizrahi as well as beloved fan-favorite Bravolebrities Kandi Burruss, Erika Girardi, Dorinda Medley, Carole Radziwill, Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna and Lisa Vanderpump.

Bravo premiered the season finale of ANDY COHEN'S THEN & NOW on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT. In the season ender, "Being Rich," Andy dives into the opulent 1980s to explore how the wealthy spent their fortunes, and how that's influenced the ways the mega-rich spend their money today. Andy looks at how the gilded mega-mansions of the 80s created today's high-tech minimalist homes, and how the pricey plastic surgery of yesterday influenced the anti-aging treatments of today. Plus, the real housewives spill their pre-nup secrets!
