Plot Synopsis

For 21 seasons, hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May traveled the globe, searching for the world's most amazing vehicles. Starting May 2016, Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc took over the wheel to host this iconic show, and then LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid took charge the following season. Whether they're on a nerve-wracking drive around the centre of Rome or driving against The Stig at the legendary Imola circuit, a track challenging enough to have embarrassed many an F1 driver, these three car aficionados sample local culture and give their verdicts on these vehicles.

BBC America aired the US premiere of Season 19 on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT, just days after its world television premiere in the UK. Season 19 included celebrity guests like Damian Lewis (HOMELAND), who appeared in the season's first episode. Plus, the boys were up to their usual antics, as they took a trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles in the second episode in three front-engined supercars: Jeremy Clarkson in a Lexus LFA, Richard Hammond driving the new Dodge Viper and James May choosing the latest Aston Martin Vanquish.

On Monday, July 8, 2013 at 8:30pm ET/PT, Season 20 of TOP GEAR had its U.S. premiere on BBC America, as Jeremy and James raced a car up the New Zealand coast trying to beat the Oracle, a state-of-the-art America's Cup yacht.

BBC America aired the U.S. premiere of Season 21 on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 8:30pm ET/PT. In the seven-episode new season, TOP GEAR hosts -- Jeremy, Richard and James -- took a road trip across the Ukraine in three small cars with even smaller engines, attempted to re-live the glory days of the '80s in three classic hatchbacks, raced the new Alfa 4C sports car against a very unusual quad bike, embarked on an epic two-part journey across the wilds of Burma in three separate trucks, and much more.

TOP GEAR returned for its 22nd season in the U.S. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 8:30pm ET/PT on BBC America. In the season opener, the three hosts are in Russia, taking part in a race across the urban landscape of St Petersburg. May defends the honor of the car in a very small Renault, Hammond tries to prove that pedaling is faster by riding a bicycle, while Clarkson attempts to demonstrate that water is the quickest way across town by piloting a hovercraft. To make matters more complicated, all three presenters are racing not only one another but also the Stig, who is making his way toward the finish line by public transportation. Plus, the new Lamborghini Huracan is put through its paces, and Ed Sheeran takes to the test track in the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment.

BBC AMERICA premiered the 23rd season of TOP GEAR on Monday, May 30 at 9/8c. Over the last 8 months, hosts Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc, Sabine Schmitz, Chris Harris, Eddie Jordan, Rory Reid and The Stig have driven over 7500 miles, undertaken both on and off road challenges, tested the very latest cars and filmed in nine countries across four continents to create the new season. For the first time TOP GEAR is accompanied by an after show, hosted by Rory Reid and Chris Harris, airing immediately following each new episode of TOP GEAR on BBCA. In the TOP GEAR season opener, Chris Evans takes the Dodge Viper ACR to Nevada to battle Sabine Schmitz in a Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Matt LeBlanc tackles the wild Moroccan desert in the Ariel Nomad. This week's celebrity guests include actor Jesse Eisenberg and Gordon Ramsay.

Season 24 of TOP GEAR premiered on BBC America on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT, with hosts Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid at the helm, with appearances from German race ace Sabine Schmitz, F1 pundit Eddie Jordan, and the international man of mystery referred to only as 'The Stig,' because that's his name. In this new seven-part season, TOP GEAR's hosts journey across wildest Kazakhstan in cars with half a million miles on the clock, tackle old-school motorsport in Cuba, blast through the US's wild west in the latest convertible supercars, and attempt to turn an ugly South Korean van into a luxury yacht to rival Monaco's finest. Matt, Chris and Rory also review the latest and greatest cars from around the globe, from the Ferrari FXX K to the Aston Martin DB11, from the incredible Bugatti Chiron to the new Ford GT. Oh, and an eight-wheeled, all-terrain monster from Russia, because no season is truly complete without an eight-wheeled, all-terrain monster from Russia. The season premiere features actor James McAvoy as guest.

The twenty-fifth season of TOP GEAR premiered on BBC America on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:30pm ET/PT. This season, six hour-long episodes see the team confronting the big issues: building the world's fastest tractor, tackling America's Wild West in shiny new V8 sports cars, attempting to land a NASA research plane in a muscle car, and much more besides. Filmed in locations including Japan, the U.S, Italy and er... just-outside-of-Guildford, expect TOP GEAR's trademark array of stunning photography, state-of-the-art supercars, celebrity guests and a healthy disrespect for presenter safety. In the season opener, Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid head to America's Wild West to test out three new V8 sports cars: the McLaren 570GT, Jaguar F-Type SVR and a very powerful Ford Mustang; journeying across beautiful Utah, the boys attempt to outrun the law. The following day, March 4, the second episode of TOP GEAR debuts in its regular weekly time slot: Sundays at 8pm on BBC America.

Season 26 of TOP GEAR had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on BBC America. The new season sees Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, Rory Reid and The Stig return. Five hour-long episodes see the team discovering the very best supercar alternatives to the traditional family estate car from Ferrari and Porsche, racing to the top of a mountain in a pair of the smallest 4x4's in the UK, risking life and limb in Tuk-Tuk's across Sri-Lanka on both land and sea, measuring just how scary the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is with the with the new-fangled gadget the 'Fearometer 3000', and finding out if you can buy and race second-hand luxury cars for less than the cost of a Dacia Sandero. Filmed in locations including Norway, Sri Lanka and Spain, expect Top Gear's trademark array of stunning photography, state-of-the-art supercars and celebrity guests on the track in Top Gear's Reasonably Fast Car. In the season opener, Matt LeBlanc and Chris Harris head to Norway in the latest estate cars from Porsche and Ferrari, while Rory Reid and Sabine Schmitz aim to create Britain's newest mountain with the help of a tiny Suzuki. James Marsden is the studio guest.

For its 27th season, Chris Harris is joined by two new co-hosts: comedian Paddy McGuinness and cricketer Freddie Flintoff. Season 27 of TOP GEAR had its U.S. premiere on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT on BBC America. The premiere episode sees the trio reliving their first car experiences in Ethiopia. Freddie, Paddy and Chris are tasked with buying a fine example of their own first car, and drive their purchases to the Danakil Depression - the hottest year-round place on Earth. Moreover, Chris takes to the track in the McLaren 600LT and Ferrari 488 Pista in order to determine which track-day supercar is the best. Suffice to say, Europe's tire manufacturers were kept in business for another few years.

Season 28 of TOP GEAR had its U.S. premiere on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT on BBC America, with returning hosts Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris. In the 90-minut season opener, Paddy, Freddie and Chris head on a British summer holiday in super-cheap, second-hand convertibles; Chris tests the new Ariel Atom; Freddie attempts to bungee-jump an old Rover off a dam.

BBC America aired the U.S. debut of TOP GEAR's 29th season on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT. The new season sees hosts Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris tackle a giant carnival-inspired Wall of Death driving old insurance write-offs, hurtle down a ski slope in Cyprus in 30 Euro ($36) holiday hire cars, and race around an eerily empty Alton Tower Resort in the latest electrics. The new season of TOP GEAR halted production back in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but after a greenlight from the Government of the United Kingdom, production was resumed in mid-June with a new approach to finish the season. For the in-studio segments, the hosts left the confines of their regular Top Gear studio, a hangar at the show's iconic track in Dunsfold, Surrey, filming instead outdoors on the racecourse in front of a 500-strong socially distant drive-in audience. 160 cars filled with fans got to see the trio entertaining from a big main stage flanked by video screens, as well as from a smaller satellite stage located in the middle of the drive-in crowd. View and download photos of the drive-in recordings here.
