Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments, archival footage and first-person interviews, TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FLORIDA chronicles the world's strangest crimes, which happen to take place in Florida. Each one-hour episode features a different true-crime story, including that of Charles Maxcy, whose tale is featured in the series opener. Maxcy runs one of Florida's most profitable citrus operations, and has built an idyllic life with his wife Irene on their spacious ranch in the little town of Sebring. But things turn sour when cheating hearts lead to cold-blooded murder. Then, in "Double Jeopardy: A Palm Beach Affair," Palm Beach is known for its affluence, a lifestyle Linda Cooney dreams of when she marries into a prominent family. But the marriage cracks beyond repair when a bizarre shooting shows that even a spot on the A-list is no match for a gun.

On Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered the season finale of TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FLORIDA. In the season ender, "The Mystery of Anna Maria Island," beautiful Anna Maria Island is rocked when one of its most beloved residents, a popular motel owner, disappears. All signs point to murder, but with no body there isn't much to go on. Slowly, the beach gives up its secrets and a killer is cornered.
