As always, a new season of MAD MEN is always worth the wait and Season 6 doesn’t disappoint.  The award-winning, 1960s period drama returns this Sunday night with a stunning, beautifully nuanced two-hour premiere. Like last year, Executive Producer Matt Weiner, again, sent a letter to all media critics, asking us not to reveal anything from the episode. So you shouldn’t think I’m toying with you and trying to withhold juicy plot points about Season 6, here’s a portion of the letter:

“My goal every season is first and foremost to entertain the audience, and I know that this best accomplished when key storylines are not revealed in advance. I am asking you to please join with me to ensure this enjoyment by not revealing the following”:

•    The year the season begins
•    Status of Don and Megan’s relationship
•    Whether the agency has expanded to an additional floor
•    New characters
•    New relationships or partnerships

So in deference to Mr. Weiner’s request, we’ll play along and give you a non-review review. Just like the iconic series SEINFELD, this review will be about nothing. Rest assured this new season of MAD MEN is provocative, emotionally layered and a joy to watch.

OK, here’s what you can know. The premiere opens as Don is on vacation in Hawaii; the folks at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce are working on new ad campaigns; Sally’s a pistol; Betty goes in search of a violin; Joan is still busty, Pete is Pete, Peggy is forced to work late at Cutler, Gleason and Chaough and some doors open, some doors close. How’s that for non-spoilers?
