Martha Stewart and Jo Frost? They're so yesterday. If you want real advice about how to run a household, just listen to these stay-at-home men from Fox Reality Channel's new series, the Househusbands of Hollywood, premiering on Saturday, August 15 at 9PM.

The househusbands took some time out of their busy lives of scheduling mani-pedis, folding teddies and making beddies to share some words of wisdom about keeping the wife happy, cooking, cleaning, children and pets. Name any problem, and they have practical solutions. Lots of solutions.

We sorted through their responses and picked out their best hints.

Billy Ashley

former Major League Baseball player married to a celeb makeup artist

Cleaning: "All I can say is, buy pillows. Pillows can hide A LOT of stuff, when you don't have time to put things away."

Children: "Like baseball, kids need a schedule. They don't know it, but they need one. Trying to keep them on a schedule is the tough part. Advanced warning is the key from the 15 minute warning, to the 5 to the 2 minute warning. Finally, it's the 'you better get your butts down here and get this done' ultimatum."

Charlie Mattera

actor/screenwriter married to a psychologist

Cleaning: "Cleaning is over rated. The important thing is that things LOOK like they're clean. I take care of the big stuff and ignore the little things. If you get called on it, I just tell 'em you didn't see it."

Children: "When kids start getting into something they shouldn't, use the distraction technique and show them something else. 'Look at the shiny thing I'm holdin'!' Works every time!"

Keeping the Wife Happy: "Keeping the wife happy is easy - just do whatever she asks and don't ever do anything wrong. Now if you do something wrong, don't ever admit it. Hide it in the hamper or blame it on the cats. If all else fails, distract her by saying something nice about her clothes or hair."

Danny Barclay

aspiring actor married to an attorney

Cleaning: "Katherine likes things super clean. Me? I like things kinda clean. She wants the bathroom to get the toothbrush treatment - I find a quick wipe with a papertowel works wonders. And a low watt bulb..."

Pets: "To truly get pet hair off the carpet, you must get down on all fours and glide your hands over the rug - it's not pretty, but it's the only thing that really works."

Darryl M. Bell

formerly on A Different World and partner of Tempestt Bledsoe

Cleaning: "Nothing is sexier to a woman than a clean house. I've got it down to a science. A little pillow fluffing, a quick vacuum, taking the garbage out, making the place look almost spotless. When she gets home - she's immediately relaxed."

Children: "Kids are easy. Treat them the way you treat yourself. Engage them with the things that interest you. Video games, TV, poker, candy, maybe a game of hoops. These kinds of things prepare them for real life."

Cooking: "The best thing I make for dinner doesn't involve hours of cooking or fancy recipes - it's all about knowing the best restaurants to make a reservation at."

Grant Reynolds

former USMC sniper married to TV personality Jillian Barberie Reynolds

Cleaning: "The best way to keep the house clean is to always pick things up when they're out of place. Letting it accumulate will wear you down. Whether it's toys or clothes - I'm always moving something back to where it is supposed to be."

Children: "Kids are gonna screw up. You gotta let them have a long leash. Know your limits though, and theirs. It's good to let kids figure out life through experience. Kids gotta get out there in the world and find out what works and what doesn't."

Househusbands of Hollywood premieres Saturday, August 15 at 9PM on the Fox Reality Channel.
