Plot Synopsis

TURBINE COWBOYS follows two teams of wind turbine workers, who risk their lives building, maintaining, and repairing windmills across the Western hemisphere. Whether they are fixing one of the 5,000 wind turbines at the Tehachapi Wind Farm in California, building new structures at the Roscoe Wind Farm in West Texas -- where cattle still graze on the largest wind farm in the United States -- or inspecting the cover housing on a windmill in rural Baja, Mexico, these "wind techs" face extreme weather, dizzying heights, and possible electrocution. The two teams include: Brent Berentson, who has been a trainer at ENSA since 2007 and is based out of Tehachapi, CA; Robin Ham, a former pro football player with the Green Bay Packers, who was used to working in the old days when he spent one day installing a housing, which now takes a week because of safety regulations; Alex Mulder, who moved from Minnesota to California to work for Energy Maintenance Services and is now an instructor at ENSA; Manny Williams, who founded, and is president of, the Ocean Corporation Alumni Association and whose famous blog, which detailed the journey of someone starting at the bottom of the career path and climbing upwards, is still available on the Rigg-Access site; and Bobby Woodson, who has a severe fear of heights that he must overcome so that he can excel in his new profession after spending time on Skid Row in Los Angeles.
