Plot Synopsis

In THE MESSENGERS, a group of seemingly unconnected strangers are responsible for preventing the end of the world. When a mysterious object crashes down to Earth, a group of people die from the energy pulse, but they soon awaken to learn they are angels of the coming apocalypse. A mysterious figure, known only as The Man, wakes up naked and burned in the desert and sets out on a mission to provide some answers about the strange events. Meanwhile, Vera, a scientist at the NASA Space Observatory in New Mexico, studies the situation from afar, trying to understand what really happened, with the help of Alan, a handsome techie with whom she shares a romantic past. These strangers/angels, who all awaken with extraordinary gifts, include: Erin, who is eager to make a new life for herself and her young daughter -- far away from her hot-headed ex-husband, Ronnie; Peter, a loner who was raised in a group home and is bullied constantly; Raul Garcia, a federal agent looking to escape his undercover assignment in a violent Mexican drug cartel; and Joshua, a charismatic second-generation televangelist at a Texas mega-church. Most mysterious of all is the figure known only as The Man, who offers Vera the one thing she wants most in life -- to be reunited with her kidnapped son -- if she will help him with one morally complicated task. That task puts Vera on a collision course with nurse Rose Arvale who, after a seemingly random act of violence left her in a coma for seven years, suddenly begins to stir. As Joshua Jr. prophesied, the wheels of Revelation have begun to turn, and these five newly christened Angels of the Apocalypse may be the only hope for preventing the impending Rapture.

On Friday, July 24, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, The CW premiered the series finale of THE MESSENGERS. In the series ender, "Houston, We Have A Problem," the messengers face off against the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who plan to break the seal and destroy everything.
