Plot Synopsis

Based on the Australian TV series of the same name, RAKE is a scripted drama that follows the personal and professional lives of criminal defense lawyer Keegan Deane, a brilliant, but self-destructive, addict who operates with no filter. In the courtroom, Keegan is a flashy perfomer, the perfect balance to Ben, his best friend from law school, who is a conservative family man married to Scarlett, who used to hook up with Keegan in school. Because of his lack of discretion, Keegan takes on cases that no other lawyers will touch, usually defending those who seem beyond redemption -- but he couldn't do it without the help of Leanna, his no-nonsense assistant. Outside the courtroom, Keegan continues a relationship with his exhausted ex-wife, Maddie, a grounded, caring, smart woman acting as his psychiatrist. Plus, Keegan juggles his liaisons with multiple women, including Mikki, a high-priced prostitute, who has maintained a five-year relationship with him. On top of that, Keegan deals with mounting debt to his bookie and his ongoing battle with the IRS and David Potter, a tax attorney determined to prove he hasn't been paying taxes.
