Plot Synopsis
When a self-proclaimed player, Danny, takes on a nebbish new roommate, Justin, he inherits a new group of date-challenged friends he dubs The Undateables, takes them under his wing, and tries to change their romantic lives forever. Besides Justin, The Undateables are: Shelly, a shy musician, whose appeal to women comes to life when he's performing; Brett, Justin's prohibitively picky and undateable friend, who always finds something wrong with a guy; and Burski, a friend of Justin's and a regular patron at Danny and Justin's frequent watering hole, where Maddie works as a waitress. In the pilot episode, Danny takes the guys to an event hosted by his sister, Leslie, who is a single mom with dating difficulties of her own. At first, Danny's advice seems to pay off: the shy guy talks to a girl; the no-filter dude learns it's never OK to ask a woman when she's due; and Justin goes home with a mystery woman, who turns out to be Leslie. UNDATEABLE premiered on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, with NBC showing back-to-back half-hour episodes each week. UNDATEABLE returned for its second season on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC, with Chris D'Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, Rick Glassman, David Fynn, and Bianca Kajlich all coming back for Season 2, with Bridgit Mendler joining the cast as new waitress Candace. In the season opener, "A Japanese Businessman Walks into a Bar," Danny convinces Justin to have a one night stand, but when he can't end it quickly, the gang has a "trial" to decide who is a bigger jerk: Justin or Danny. At the bar, Justin hires a new bartender, Candace, who isn't quite getting the hang of her new job. Meanwhile, Leslie thinks a gym is using a suggestive picture of her to their advantage, and the guys decide to take matters into their own hands. Season 3 of UNDATEABLE, featuring a full season of live episodes, premiered on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 8-9pm ET/PT with an hourlong telecast on NBC, before moving to its regular timeslot -- Fridays from 8-8:30pm ET/PT -- the following week. In the one-hour season opener, "A Will They Walks Into a Bar; A Won't They Walks Into a Bar," Danny decides to interfere as Justin and Candace are on the verge of making things official. Burski surprises everyone that when he announces he has a girlfriend. Meanwhile, Leslie decides it's time to change up her look. Season 3 musical guests have included Nico and Vinz, Kodaline, Saint Motel, Meghan Trainor, American Authors, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and Alessia Cara.
