This Sunday night at 8pm, CBS presents the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Members of the Academy of Television Arts and Science have voted for the best of the 2008-2009 television season, and the winners will be revealed live. It's always a surprising night, and viewers' choice favorites often aren't the eventual victors. Here's an insider's look at who deserves to take home a trophy, and who will actually win come Sunday night.

Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series

The Competition: Five returning nominees from last year (Gabriel Byrne, Bryan Cranston, Michael C. Hall, Jon Hamm, and Hugh Laurie) and freshman newcomer Simon Baker. Only Cranston, last year's champ, has won before.

Who Should Win: Jon Hamm deserves his due for selling like no one else as the womanizing Don Draper on Mad Men.

Who Will Win: Jon Hamm's show is so popular, that should be enough to prevent Cranston from repeating.

Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series

The Competition: Three Oscar-winning actresses (Glenn Close, Sally Field, and Holly Hunter), two courageous cops (Mariska Hargitay and Kyra Sedgwick), and one intrepid young copywriter (Elisabeth Moss).

Who Should Win: Elisabeth Moss has really helped Peggy come out of her shell this season. She's a woman in a man's world and also one of the standout females in the Mad Men cast.

Who Will Win: Kyra Sedgwick is overdue. She should pull through this time and beat out Glenn Close.

Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

The Competition: Four familiar names (Alec Baldwin, Steve Carrell, Tony Shalhoub, Charlie Sheen) and two fabulously fresh faces (Jemaine Clement and Jim Parsons).

Who Should Win:Jemaine Clement is irreverent, incessantly hilarious, and musically talented as one half of New Zealand's best folk parody duo on Flight of the Conchords.

Who Will Win: Steve Carell may finally get his shot after losing to Baldwin and Shalhoub in previous years.

Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

The Competition: Four Emmy favorites (Christina Applegate, Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Mary-Louise Parker), one freshman newcomer (Toni Collette), and one wild card (Sarah Silverman).

Who Should Win: Mary-Louise Parker kept Nancy as grounded as possible as she moved on from drug dealer to border smuggler on Weeds.

Who Will Win: Tina Fey is just too popular not to win, but the multi-talented Toni Collette might have a prayer if it's not a popularity contest.

Best Drama Series

The Competition: First-time nominee veteran series (Big Love, Breaking Bad), popular cable dramas (Damages, Dexter, Mad Men), and two hit network shows (House, Lost).

Who Should Win: Lost was simply amazing with the incredible head trip that its time travel induced this season.

Who Will Win: Mad Men is the safe bet -- last year's winner and still a critical darling -- but AMC's other acclaimed show, Breaking Bad, wasn't in the race last time.

Best Comedy Series

The Competition: Three returning nominees (Entourage, The Office, 30 Rock), one dramedy (Weeds), a first-time nominee traditional sitcom (How I Met Your Mother), and two untraditional choices (Family Guy, Flight of the Conchords)

Who Should Win: Flight of the Conchords deserves major credit for its inventive funny songs and wacky plotlines from New Zealand's folk parody duo.

Who Will Win: 30 Rock is the frontrunner as the two-time winner, but the only laugh-track sitcom here, How I Met Your Mother, could stage an upset.
