Plot Synopsis
Based on the novel by Anne Rice. In 1840's New Orleans the ''free people of color'' live between the black and white world. A 16 year old boy with a white, rich father and a free biracial mother and his sister confront the transition from adolescence into their uncertain social position as an adults. He begins to study with a famous black novelist, but when it is decided that he should master a trade to support himself instead of completing his education, he revolts and seeks the truth about who he is and who he is supposed t o become.
