Plot Synopsis
Based on the book by Scott Whisnant. In 1985 North Carolina, army Sgt. Tim Hennis is arrested for the rape and murder of a woman and her two children. Although he professes his innocence, the circumstantial evidence piles up against him. His diligent lawyers and the support of his family are unable to keep him off of death row. Believing they can win on appeal, the defense team stiffens their resolve to prove their case. Finding new evidence and showing prosecution misconduct, Hennis is eventually found not guilty, becoming the first man in North Carolina on death row to win on appeal.
