Plot Synopsis
In a small English town in 1944, a lonely married woman, whose officer husband is away in the navy, finds herself having an affair with a black American soldier. When her husband returns and discovers them together, he charges the GI with rape. He threatens his wife to take away their young son if she doesn't go along with the story. Afraid of losing her family and friends and unable to face the truth-- she seals her lover's fate.
