Plot Synopsis

A behind-the-scenes look at the popular NBC sit-com that ran from 1978-1986 and starred child actors Gary Colman, Todd Bridges and Dana Plato. The show revolved around two orphaned brothers from Harlem who were adopted by a wealthy businessman and his teenage daughter. While the show became a big hit there were problems on and off the set. The pitfalls of child stardom are examined as the actor's personal lives spiraled downward in the years after the series ended. Bridges and Plato, who died of a drug overdose in 1999, both had run-ins with the law, and Coleman fought a protracted legal battle with his parents over his earnings from the show.
