Plot Synopsis

While his parents go on a summer vacation to repair their strained marriage, a moody, misanthropic teenage boy is exiled to the wilds of Colorado to spend six weeks with his crusty, cowboy grandfather. After pulling a Fourth of July prank that infuriates grandpa, he is told he must leave. The only catch is that his journey home be by horseback, an 800-mile journey back to California. During the long trip both of them learn valuable life lessons and the true meaning of family.
