Plot Synopsis

Facing her first Christmas alone without her serviceman husband, Kyle, Gretchen Daniels returns to her hometown with her young son to be closer to her mother. She's moved into a new home in a new neighborhood and though she finds it challenging without her husband, she puts on a brave face for her little boy. But everything changes when a man knocks on her door and Gretchen is charged with the task of telling her neighbor Melissa that her estranged mother has just died. Gretchen's heart goes out to this lonely woman in her time of need and she offers her support. The two women go to Melissa's mother's house to clear out her things, and while doing so find a note her mother wrote to her that reveals Melissa had a sibling she never knew. Gretchen becomes deeply involved in Melissa's quest to find the mysterious brother or sister, and during the course of their search, Gretchen and Melissa become extremely close, which makes their startling Christmas surprise even more miraculous.
