Plot Synopsis
In pre Civil War New Orleans Henriette Delille, a Creole beauty, refuses to follow custom and accept life as a mistress to a wealthy white European. Her mother begs her to adhere to the traditions of the ''Quadroon'' ball and accept the love of a French physician. Confronted with adversity, she must choose between the powerful love of one man and a divine calling to serve the needy. She becomes the founder of the Sister of the Holy Family, an international order of nuns dedicated to serving the poor.
