Plot Synopsis

The third installment in the Hallmark "Darrow & Darrow" TV movie franchise. Concerned that an innocent woman has been wrongly convicted, earnest young police officer Roy Wingreen seeks help from defense attorney Claire Darrow and District Attorney Miles Strasberg. A year ago, Roy was a rookie cop responding to a call from Laura Graham, who reported that her husband Tom had been kidnapped. That day, he watched in astonishment as Laura was arrested and charged with his murder. Laura has steadfastly maintained her innocence and Roy has never been able to shake the sense that she is telling the truth. Both Claire and Miles remember the Graham case, which seemed the definition of open-and-shut. It was not a typical murder trial. There was no body to put in evidence as Tom's corpse had not been found. There was, however, an array of circumstances that pointed to a classic crime of passion. In reading the trial transcripts, Claire finds no reason to question the jury's guilty verdict. But after paying a jailhouse visit to Laura, she changes her mind, bringing to the fore the inconsistencies in the prosecution's theory of the crime. As their investigation turns up new information and leads them down unexpected paths, Claire is increasingly certain that Laura Graham is innocent and dubious that a murder even took place.
