Plot Synopsis

Beautiful movie star Alex Allen is known for her onscreen romances, but in real life, love has a way of passing her by. When she is abruptly dumped at a Hollywood red carpet event and the incident goes viral, her publicist, Paige, scrambles to restore her public image. Meanwhile, David Rogers, a quirky midwestern high school student, struggles to secure a date for his upcoming prom. Following multiple rejections, he decides to reach for the stars and invite Alex Allen. As he strains to write his 'promposal,' he asks his English teacher, Vincent Walsh, for assistance. Hoping it will offer inspiration, the handsome instructor lends him a book he authored, and David plagiarizes a romantic description of love and posts it online. Soon David's promposal catches Paige's eye and needing a publicity stunt to boost Alex's waning popularity she insists Alex attend the prom. Alex arrives at David's doorstep and accepts his invitation and is soon introduced to Heidi Watts, David's idiosyncratic best friend who secretly has a crush on him. As she helps David and his star-struck classmates arrange a Hollywood-themed prom, Alex meets Walsh and sparks immediately fly. But when Alex suspects that Walsh orchestrated David's promposal as a ploy to meet a famous movie star she coldly dismisses him, and arranges for Heidi to be David's date. While Alex gives Heidi a glamorous makeover, she discovers that the promposal wasn't Walsh's idea. Alone again, she wonders if Walsh has made a permanent exit from her life, and if she'll have another chance to attend a prom and find true love.
