Plot Synopsis

In 1961 a white Boston woman is raped and made pregnant by a black man. She gives the baby girl to a black foster mother, rather then raise her in a bigoted white community. Seven years later the child is sent to adoptive white parents in the mid-west where she grows up feeling distant and alone. Now in her 30's, the young woman seeks out her birth mother. The two woman form a deep bond that helps them both heal the emotional wounds of the past.
