Plot Synopsis

A reporter, tortured by the secret police in a South American country, goes to cover a story on a clinic that specializes in healing the physical and emotional wounds of political prisoners. She soon finds herself attracted to an intellectual former professor, who has found refuge at the institution. Through painful therapy sessions, she is able to come to terms with her past but also learns that her new lover was a member of a secret government and is responsible for inflicting torture on a young woman. He ultimately turns himself in to stand trial for political crimes.
