Plot Synopsis
A college coed hoping to increase her popularity, pledges the most desirable sorority on campus. When she falls to her death while hanging banners, her best friend suspects a malicious, illegal hazing incident. She soon faces a conspiracy of silence when the girls and the administration deny their culpability. She exposes the truth when she finds a former student who was also traumatized during an initiation ritual.

On Tuesday, August 10, 2021 Lifetime announced that it will bring the classic 1997 made-for-televison movie DYING TO BELONG to a whole new generation, with Shannen Doherty, Favour Onwuka and Fenika Rose starring. Revealing the harsh realities of toxic friendships and sorority hazing culture, the original film starred Hilary Swank, Sarah Chalke, Jenna von Oy and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. When journalism major Olivia (Onwuka) meets Riley (Rose), a shy freshman who suffers from anxiety, they become fast friends. Riley, whose mother Katherine (Doherty) was a legacy Pi Gamma Beta, decides to rush in hopes of following Katherine's footsteps and is ecstatic when Olivia joins her. Sensing the opportunity to go undercover to write a story about hazing practices, Olivia soon discovers there are deadly secrets involved in being part of the "sisterhood." DYING TO BELONG will debut Fall 2021 on Lifetime.
