Plot Synopsis
Based on the book by Kaye Gibbons. In the 1960's a 10 year-old girl's existence with her alcoholic father is bearable only because of the love of her gentle mother. When her mom dies, the child finds herself shuffled among cruel and selfish relatives-including her venomous grandmother. Though it all she remains resilient, drawing strength from a few friendships and a boundless supply of hope.
