Plot Synopsis

In Brooklyn, New York a Jewish restaurant owner decides to sell his diner to developers who plan to transform the area into an upscale neighborhood. His decision creates turmoil in the lives of his long time employees including a single mother cashier, a waitress, and an ex-con dishwasher. Over the course of a single day the owner wrestles with his decision as he watches the reactions of his staff and regular customer, who cross all race, age and socioeconomic boundaries.
