Plot Synopsis

Based on the novels by Suzi Weinert and the eighth installment in the "Garage Sale Mystery" TV movie franchise. Jennifer Shannon can separate the wheat from the chaff at the most chaotic garage sale, unearthing gem after gem to sell at Rags to Riches, the consignment store she co-owns with her friend and business partner Dani. Jennifer is just as sharp when it comes to keeping track of her customer's habits, and immediately thinks of her client Anne Winters when she spots a weathered vintage surfboard at a sale, a perfect fit for the collection of Anne's surfer husband Steve. Surfing is a famously risky sport, so all appearances point to accidental drowning when Steve's body is discovered on an isolated beach. Jennifer accompanies a distraught Anne to the site of her husband's death, where she can't help but scan the scene for some kind of clue. Sure enough, her eye is drawn to small but telling details that defy easy explanation: odd markings on the ground by Steve's car, wet carpets in the car's back seat. Something is not right. Anne, too, finds it difficult to believe that his death was accidental, given his experience as a competitive swimmer and lifeguard. Only days before,Steve had found himself in the awkward position of hiring and then firing his older brother Todd, a heavy drinker with an unpredictable streak. Yet there are no marks or bruises on Steve's body to indicate anything but a simple drowning. The mystery only deepens as Jennifer tries to put the puzzle pieces together. There is no shortage of suspects with motive, but Jennifer knows the obvious culprit isn't always the right one. She continues to chase the mystery of Steve's death -- unaware that she risks a wipeout at the hands of the killer.
