Plot Synopsis
Based on the 1977 play by Marsha Norman. A Georgia woman recently paroled from prison attempts to regain custody of the son she gave birth to while incarcerated. Discovering her mother gave the child up for adoption, she must get on with rebuilding her life which forces her to confront long held resentments against her sexually abusive father and her trashy, belittling mother.
