Plot Synopsis
In 1973 Harlan County, Kentucky, a courageous coal miner's wife overcomes politics, poverty an violence in spearheading a bloody year-long labor strike against the town's unsafe mining company who pay low wages with few benefits. Her husband, a union man and at first supportive, becomes increasingly threatened by her new-found activist role.
