Plot Synopsis

Based on the novella by Joseph Conrad. In the 1890's an ambitious British steamboat captain commissioned to carry supplies deep into the African jungle and return with precious ivory. On an expedition up the Congo river he discovers a renegade ivory trader who is hoarding a huge cache of ivory and is bent on a maniacal plot to exterminate the local population. Horrified by the death and violence over the amassed treasure, he refuses to bring the ivory out.
