Plot Synopsis
In 1962, in a small southern town a 13 year old girl who lives with her racist uncle, her nervous aunt and her paralyzed widowed mother slowly comes of age after befriending a young black minister. When a fire destroys a theater her uncle owns, killing a black boy trapped in the blacks-only balcony, she is urged by the minister to testify that her bigoted uncle's negligence contributed to the tragedy.
