Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel by Nancy Naigle. With the wounds of her unexpected divorce still smarting, Sydney and her daughter Rayanne head to Hopewell, North Carolina for one final Christmas there, which will give Sydney the opportunity to sell the house she has inherited from her grandmother, with whom she used to spend summers and holidays as a child. Before long, she rekindles her love for "The Book Bea," Hopewell's wonderful bookstore run by old family friend Bea, where she used to spend countless hours as a young girl. When local fourth grade teacher Mac shows up at the shop, Bea plots to bring Sydney and Mac together at that evenings tree lighting in the town square. They meet and, while there is obvious chemistry, neither is looking for a relationship. As they get to know one another better, each learns of the others painful past; Sydney's difficult divorce and the unexpected death of Mac's wife just two years into their marriage. The attraction is palpable but neither wants to be hurt again and both have too much at stake to risk romance right now. As Christmas gets closer, Sydney convinces Bea to participate in the town's decorating contest and puts together a great display. But when an accident destroys the display the night before the judging, Sydney must pull together friends and come up with a presentation worthy of "The Book Bea." As much fun as these few weeks have been in Hopewell, Sydney still must figure out the next steps for her and Rayanne until she realizes that perhaps, the answers she is looking for are right there in Hopewell.
