Plot Synopsis

The fall from grace of baseball legend Pete Rose who ruined his career by betting on baseball games. Rose's inelegant downfall between 1986 (a year after he famously broke Ty Cobb's long-standing career-hits record) and 1989, when the Dowd Report was released that implicated Rose for betting on baseball, including his own team, while managing his beloved Cincinnati Reds. His relationship with pal Paul Janszen, who served as Rose's accomplice in crime -- booking his bets and covering his hero's double life. It was Janszen who finally blew the whistle on Rose, but not until after his unscrupulous buddy had taken him down with him. Rose's gambling addiction resulted in his lifetime banishment from the game.
