Plot Synopsis

A thirty-something writer living a well-ordered and mostly cloistered life finds her emotional equilibrium threatened when her troubled sixteen-year-old nephew arrives on her doorstep. The damaged teen is seeking deliverance from his chaotic and abusive home. No stranger to the family nightmare from which the boy is fleeing she, like her nephew, has retreated, into her own cocoon. In helping the boy, she is forced to confront her family's history of sibling rivalries, intimate betrayals, alcoholism, and mental illness. What emerges is the story of two people's, stunning growth, retribution, and redemption.
