Plot Synopsis
In 1990 Sonora, CA, Ellie Nesler pleased not guilty by reason of insanity for the first degree murder of the Sunday school teacher charged with molesting her 7-year old son. Jurors found her guilty of the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced her to 10 years in prison. She became a cause celebre and was released from prison in 1997 after serving four years of her sentence.
